“Vegetarian Capsule” means the capsule shell is made from non-animal film-formers. It does not automatically mean the whole formula is vegetarian or vegan.
Vegetarian capsule shells are most commonly HPMC / hypromellose (hydroxypropyl methylcellulose), sometimes pullulan or other plant-derived polymers, rather than gelatin (typically bovine or porcine collagen).
It is a dosage-form / excipient claim about the shell, not automatically a claim that every fill ingredient is vegetarian or vegan.
No single “Vegetarian Capsule” certification monopoly. Capsule manufacturers supply HPMC shells; finished-supplement brands declare “vegetarian capsule” on labels. Separate vegan society trademarks may appear if the whole product is certified vegan. That is distinct from this chip.
Check whether the shell is listed as hypromellose/HPMC/vegetable cellulose versus gelatin. If you need a fully vegan product, verify the fill and look for a separate vegan claim or certification (see live Vegan Education). Softgels need extra scrutiny.
Vegetarian Capsule is about the shell, not the whole formula. Keep it separate from Vegan.
